OVERALL RUNNING SCHEDULE
FOR AMPOL RERUN
Please note that drives
between locations will be in the main simple map reading, with some route
charts to get you through towns or to locations without mapped roads. The route
has some great drivers roads and I have always endeavoured to make the drive as
interesting as possible and
have included historic references as part of the route
instructions. A few of the original 1958 Ampol destinations were removed in
order to remove some boring and pointless drives.
There will generally be
simple questions to answer at specified points, although sometimes we will use
manned controls or information boards. There will be the occasional via point
that will require thought to get right but these aren’t designed to get you
lost. There won’t be the concentrated navigational sub events of the
Redex.Rerun.
The touring entrants will be
scored on all of the navigation and will be eligible for awards. However, it
will be possible to drive directly between the stops and activities if you
aren’t interested in the competitive side of things and the route instructions
will contain suggestions for extra non sporting activities to take their place
along the way, some of these are mentioned below.
As well as the public
displays mentioned which will mainly be at start and finish controls there are other control points that are likely to be publicised.
